These Caves Have Been Carved Out Of Solid Sandstone On A Hillside In The 4 th & 5 th Centuries A.D.There Are Several Caves. The Best Known And Largest One Was Four Storied. A Huge Unknown Recreated Statue In Reclining Posture, Sculpted From A Single Block Of Granite Inside The Second Floor. Originally A Jain Cave Resembling Architecture Of Udayagiri And Khandgiri. Main Cave Belongs To The Earliest Examples Of Gupta Architecture. Initially Caves Were Shaped As A Jain Abode And The First Floor Still Retains Style Of Abode Of Jain Ascetics Vihara Including Thirthankara Sculpture.
